Donald Trump Arrested and Released on $200,000

Former US President Donald Trump was arrested and spent around 20 minutes in jail before being released on a $200,000 bond along with other release conditions. This comes as part of a wide-ranging criminal case related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

The arrest marked a significant moment, as it was the first time Trump’s mug shot was taken at Fulton County Jail, something unprecedented for a former US President. He was given the inmate number P01135809 during the booking process.

After leaving the jail, Donald Trump’s motorcade quickly headed to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport, where his private jet was ready to take him to his golf club in New Jersey. At 77 years old, Trump became the first former US President to face criminal charges.

In response to his arrest, Trump maintained his innocence, stating that he hadn’t done anything wrong. He criticized the situation, calling it a “travesty of justice.” He further expressed his thoughts while addressing reporters.

While some of his co-defendants had their mug shots taken and displayed varied expressions, all 19 defendants were required to surrender. Notably, Mark Meadows, who had served as Trump’s White House chief of staff, was also processed at the jail on the same day.

The charges against Trump include 13 felony counts, such as racketeering, for allegedly pressuring state officials to reverse his election loss and undermining the legitimate certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The trial date for one of his co-defendants was set for October 23, although it didn’t yet apply to Trump or the other defendants.
