Following their meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Crown Prince are set to sign the minutes of the first meeting of the India-Saudi Strategic Partnership Council.
Later in the evening, President Droupadi Murmu will also meet with the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
India and Saudi Arabia share a long history of cordial and friendly relations, with deep economic and socio-cultural ties spanning centuries. Saudi Arabia is India’s second-largest trade partner, and reciprocally, India ranks as Saudi Arabia’s fourth-largest trading partner. In the Fiscal Year 2022-23, the bilateral trade between the two countries reached a value of over 52 billion dollars. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has made significant direct investments in India, exceeding three billion dollars.
Energy cooperation is a vital aspect of the Indo-Saudi bilateral relationship, with Saudi Arabia playing a crucial role in ensuring India’s energy security. It remained India’s third-largest source of crude oil and petroleum products during the Fiscal Year 2022-23. This partnership in the energy sector continues to strengthen their ties.
