The NeVA project’s implementation aligns with the “One Nation, One Application” concept championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This pioneering project is designed to modernize legislative proceedings and encourage active participation of Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) in technology-based operations through the use of tablets.
Shankar Chaudhari, the Assembly Speaker, revealed that the NeVA application will facilitate a host of digital operations, including question-answer sessions, starred and unstarred questions, Bills, and resolutions. MLAs will have the convenience of submitting their questions online, even when the legislative session is not in progress. This digital transformation promises to enhance efficiency and transparency in the legislative process.
In addition to the NeVA project, the three-day Monsoon session of the Gujarat Assembly, commencing today, is set to be historic as it will be the first paperless session of the assembly. This transition to paperless proceedings is aligned with the government’s commitment to promoting eco-friendly practices and digital governance.
Following the inauguration of the NeVA project, President Droupadi Murmu will virtually launch the nationwide “Ayushman Bhav” campaign. This ambitious campaign seeks to ensure comprehensive healthcare coverage for every town and village in the country, a significant step toward the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The “Ayushman Bhav” campaign comprises three key components
- Ayushman Apke Dwar: This segment aims to create and distribute Ayushman cards to all eligible beneficiaries, ensuring that they have access to government healthcare programs under the Ayushman Bharat initiative.
- Ayushman Mela: Health and wellness centers and community health centers will host health fairs to raise awareness and provide information about various healthcare schemes and services.
- Ayushman Sabha: At the village and ward levels, these gatherings will serve as platforms for spreading awareness about healthcare programs and services, fostering community engagement in healthcare initiatives.
Crucially, the campaign leverages the extensive network of field-level health staff and Aanganwadi workers to disseminate information and mobilize people at the grassroots level.
Ayushman Bharat, a flagship healthcare initiative, envisions the establishment of 1.5 lakh Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) by transforming existing sub-centers and primary health centers. Furthermore, the scheme aims to provide health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization, benefiting over 12 crore poor and vulnerable families, approximately 55 crore beneficiaries.
The simultaneous launch of the NeVA project and the “Ayushman Bhav” campaign reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to enhance governance and healthcare accessibility, ultimately working toward a healthier and more digitally empowered India.
